Worst Frasier Episode - Season 3

Postby Paul B » Sat Jun 09, 2007 3:04 pm

I think it's time for a different approach to these polls! Simply select your least favourite episode from season 3. Eventually, after 11 polls are complete, we will pit them all against each other. Not sure exactly what this will achieve, but I thought it would make a fun change.

Each poll will last a week.

Making this poll, I realised what an excellent, consistent season this was. Unfortunately, there were still a few stinkers that let this season down compared to S2 & S4. My vote goes to It's Hard to Say Goodbye If You Won't Leave. I quite enjoyed the Frasier/Kate relationship up until this point. While I'm glad they ended it as early as they did, I felt it was a bit overdue and the episode itself fell flat. No memorable moments, and a somewhat disappointing end to the Kate arc.

Season 3 is my favourite Frasier season. It may not be quite as consistent as Seasons 2 and 4, because it does have a few clunkers, but I think it has more standout classics overall.

I was tempted to go for 'It's Hard to Say Goodbye...', because it was one episode too many in the Kate Costas story arc, but in the end, I've decided to go for 'Crane vs Crane'. It has such a fantastic premise and so much potential, but the actual episode is devoid of laughs completely.

I've gone for The Friend. I like it, but it's my least favourite episode from S3.

Tough choice between It's Hard to Say Goodbye If You Won't Leave, The Friend and Police Story but had to go with It's Hard to Say Goodbye If You Won't Leave because it ruined a good story arc!

The first half of that episode works quite well for me but the airport scene ruins it completely.

 What was wrong with Kate Costas? Apart from her last episode, I thought she was great.

Still, we can't all agree on everything. Just imagine if everyone on here enjoyed the woeful 'Hot Ticket'. :P

I don't like Kate Costas, although I don't detest her as much as I did when I first saw her episodes. I'm not sure why, there's just something about her that I don't like, I suppose..

I did like Kate, until she forgot her cat. I'd never do that! :(

There are 3 real contenders here for me - IHTSGIYWL (which actually got my vote), Sleeping With The Enemy (for the awful OOC Martin moment) and Crane Vs Crane which has a very poor, obvious ending.

I went for IHTSGIYWL because it commits the ultimate sitcom crime of not actually being funny. I can see what they were trying to do but I didn't find it very moving either, despite my general enjoyment of Kate Costas. that Casablanca parallel has been done to death as well - Red Dwarf had a very similar episode 4 years previously!

What was the OOC moment? I haven't seen that episode in a while.

The Friend - I just hated that guy, and no I'm not that big a fan of BBQ's either!
It bugs me that Frsier didn't stick to his guns at the end.

The Friend IS actually my least favorite episode of S3. It's the one that I skip when I watch the season but I still had to vote the way I did just out of principle.

I do admit that IHTSGIYWL did spoil the Kate Costas Character for me. The earlier episodes were never the same after seeing that one. She was somewhat embarrassing?

That episode should have ended with them saying goodbye at the elevator at KACL. It got bad after that! Of course, what to do with the remaining 19 minutes of show might have been a problem! :D

I love Martin Does It His Way. She's Such a Groovy Lady was quite catchy, as well.
