The first of many invaluable scripts from Chuck Ranberg and Anne Flett-Giordano also contains the historic first meeting between Niles and Daphne, although this is just a small part of a wonderfully funny episode which explores the differing tastes of Martin and his two snobby sons. The scenes at 'The Timber Mill' are hilarious, from Frasier and Niles having their ties cut off to their sarcastic quips about the restaurant which Martin rightly chastises them for. 'Dinner At Eight' is a typical early Season 1 episode. The plot is kept simple, the characterisations are explored further and the laughs come thick and fast. |
