This episode is excellent. When Martin was schooling Niles in the art of buffets, I was laughing my head off, mainly because my father says the same things to me. However, I was jumping for reasons I can't explain, when Maris enters the bathroom and you see her shadow. AHH! |

After one or two below par episodes this is a real treat to watch. There are several highlights including Martin divulging his tactics on buffet eating, Frasier's constant complaints about his room and Niles being repeatedly doused with champagne. It's also nice to see a rare happy ending as Niles and Maris are reunited in her room. |

A Delight, Jan 17, 2006 |

One of the strengths of Frasier, in both the writing and acting, is the brilliant artistry employed to create the "farcical situation", of which The Ski Lodge was such a sublime treat. There are also elements of the farce about this episode towards the end, from the point where Roz and Frasier enter Maris' cabin, and for that alone, I adore this episode. Add to that the delights of Martin's experiences with the on-board buffet, and Frasier at his cantankerous best, persistently outraged at the quality of everyone else's cabins, and as far as I'm concerned, you have a real gem of an episode. This kind of stuff makes my heart soar. |

This is one of the best episodes in a superb series, combining slapstick and top notch scripts in one episode. Bravo! |

A cracking episode that sees Frasier agreeing to appear as a celebrity speaker on a cruise ship to Alaska, only to discover that his colleagues are a bunch of has-beens. With him in tow are Roz, Martin and Niles, the latter whom finds himself having to deal with the unwanted attentions of the man-eating Mimi. Unfortunately, both Martin and Frasier have separately invited Maris who witnesses Niles and Mimi's behaviour, causing her to pay a waiter to throw champagne in the face of Niles, who then suspects his wife of having an affair with the hilariously cheesy Latin 'singing sensation' Carlos aka 'The Barracuda'. There's a wonderful running joke where Frasier keeps learning that everyone else has a more impressive cabin than his while the ending is classic 'Frasier' farce as Frasier, Roz and then Martin find themselves hiding in Maris' bathroom only to be joined by Niles, who is once again reconciled with his wife. It's nice to see Roz getting to join the gang on an outing for once and this episode is filled with funny moments and great lines, my favourite being Frasier's reaction to The Barracuda's music: 'Oh that's bad ... on so many levels!'. Great fun all round. |
