What is your favorit episode with a character from Cheers?

Mine is the Show Where Sam Shows UP although I was a bit surprised they didn't have one where Sam and Roz got together briefly.

I came across this list of eps with the Cheers characters. This list includes Lilith and Frederick.

I don't really care for any of these guest appearances (I don’t count Lilith though, as she is more of a re-appearing character). I can’t even say why exactly, but I find them pointless
I really disliked the one with Diane (I don’t like the actress) and Cheerful Goodbyes because of the dreadful Carla.

Cheerful Goodbyes was a horrible episode. It's the only one of the Cheers cast episodes I really dislike.

I'm not a huge fan of Shelly Long either but I liked some of the scenes where she's all twitchy and I liked the play scene.

Cheerful Goodbyes was a horrible episode. It's the only one of the Cheers cast episodes I really dislike.

I didn't like Cheerful Goodbyes either. It was like an endless stream of Cheers clichés... I don't remember Cheers ever sinking this low, although some Kirstie Alley episodes came close to that. And she wasn't even there!

Agree. The dull story killed it, but i certainly believe the proper set and all the characters would have improved the episode ten-fold.

Anyway, it's probably between Room Service and The Show Where Lilith Comes Back for my favourite. Any time Lilith features is good to me, though.

Technically, every Frasier ep had a Cheers character in it. Frasier
As Frasier is the lead character of the show, and Lilith is his ex wife, they are both more to the front of the story so I would consider them Frasier characters rather than Cheers characters.

Are there any other eps apart from The Show(s) Were Woody/Sam/Diane come Back and Cheerful Goodbyes that feature Cheers characters other than Frasier and Lilith?

I'll have to go through the list of eps and see what each ep is about.

Out of the Lilith eps, i'd say my favourite would be either A Lilith Thanksgiving, or Star Mitzvah.

I like Lilith to have something else to do than to be the prating mantis ready to bite Frasier's (or Niles') head off.
The eps with romantic interest are funny, have given great moments of comedy (the room service in Room Service for one ) but I like something that puts romance/relationships aside and puts her focus on something different.

I think the above two eps do that nicely, as well as keeping up the standard of comedy.


The best ep to feature Freddie is wthout a doubt Frasier Grinch.

Honourable mention to High Holidays. High Martin is just too damn funny
War of the Words is also an ep I enjoy a lot.



So, down to what i'd consider true guest appearance from Cheers characters, i'd go with The Show Where Woody Shows Up.
Woody is a funny and likeable guy, and there's a lot of laughs with him and Frasier being stuck together but too polite to try and avoid each other.
The crowning glory of the ep for me is the tale of Noel and Gil at karaoke.
They sang Whatever you can do I can do better. They were both wrong. Gil sang I feel pretty while Noel stood on the wings and translated into Klingon

Yes, we can see him quite a few times. Played by different actors of course.

Yep. Two of my favorite episodes have Freddy in them. The one where Sam is babysitting for him and locks himself out and of course the fantabulous "One Hugs, The Other Doesn't". (the episode where we first meet Nanny G)

I really liked this one. In act, I liked that Nanny G better than the latter one. I wonder why they didn't re-cast her for the part.

Nanny G was in fact played by 3 different actors.

I imagine they didn't bring back Emma Thompson because she was pretty famous by the time Nanny G made a reappearance on Frasier. Probably busy and or too expensive for a bit part.

I actually really liked Laurie Metcalf's Nannette. She plays crazy well!

The Lilith eps gave the writers such a great opportunity for some of the funniest dialogue, facial expressions and physical reactions from Lilith herself as well as the rest of the group!

Daphne: "When I shook hands with that woman, I lost all feeling in my arm!" and her throbbing headache all weekend that goes away as Lilith's plane leaves!

Agreed! It felt really cheap as an episode. I mean, as we know, setting it at Cheers was impossible seeing as the set was demolished when it finished and Frasier's apartment interior was built on top of it, but in that case why make such a contrived episode in the first place? Plus I think it showed how integral Ted Danson was. I actually really like John Ratzenberger and George Wendt and think that Norm and Cliff were amazing characters, but it felt weird without a Sam/ Woody figure "behind the bar" so to speak. Add that to what felt like a very forced role for Carla and the whole episode feels like a pretty poor tribute to the great series that was Cheers.

As for the original question, I loved the show where Dianne shows up. I think the "play" scene is wonderful, espeically Frasier initially leaving through the bar door when he says his goodbyes ("Force of habit!") and also because I hear that this episode did a lot to mend the broken bridges that existed between Kelsey Grammer and Shelley Long after their Cheers days

Freddie was always excellent but I never liked Lilith in Frasier, except for the reactions of the Crane household to her imminent arrival. I especially liked Eddie not wanting to stay in the same room, and Martin trying to shield him from Lilith vibes - very funny. She just seemed wooden and never really belonged, or seemed able to relate to people, in Frasier land.
