Episode Synopsis

Frasier begins a steamy love affair with Caitlin, a free-spirited artist. Whenever they are together they have wonderful sex, but hardly any conversation. Niles tries to get Frasier to admit that this 'relationship' is based solely on sex, but Frasier insists that he has a real future with Caitlin. Martin, Roz and Daphne all share with Frasier their memories of relationships that were steamy but superficial. Niles, of course, tries to make up a story but gets caught. Also, Niles can't get enough of Daphne's story about sunbathing in the nude. Frasier is convinced that he must break up with Caitlin and goes to her loft to tell her. However, after howling at the moon, carnal desires overwhelm....

- Frasier tries to explain to Caitlin why he thinks things won't work out between them:
Frasier: I'm basically your stuffy, buttoned down sort of guy, you're a free-spirited, adventurous mouse-painting, moon-howling sort of girl!

Frasier Online Episode Review

Frasier finds himself in a purely physical relationship with free spirited artist Caitlin. which doesn't sit well with his belief that he would only continue to see someone if there was a future in it - if that doesn't sound like much of a plot, you're right. It also doesn't make for a very entertaining episode either, sadly, as the episode struggles to be more than just amusing with only the odd great line here and there - I particularly liked Niles' teasing of his brother about the fact Frasier think he and Caitlin have a future together. I found the final scene where Frasier learns that she stuffs her own hair into pillows, and likes to howl at the moon, a rather woeful conclusion to the episode which is a pity as Rob Greenberg has written some wonderful 'Frasier' episodes in the past but this is sadly the weakest Season 5 episode.

When good men turn lustful, May 09, 2013

Reviewer: Sammy J from Melbourne, Australia

After starting to question his lovelife mid-season, Frasier begins to enter a mid-life crisis in this average episode. (Average, by season 5 standards, is pretty good.)

Kelsey Grammer always has fun when Frasier's lustful side comes out, and it's nice to see him pursuing a relationship for what everyone knows are the wrong reasons. The episode has a season 1 style sensibility in its single-mindedness. It's no classic, but deftly written and the scene where the characters share (or, in Niles' case, attempt to share) steamy stories is a hoot. Lisa Edelstein has fun as Frasier's date too (at its best, this series was very good at creating comic love interests - which a lot of lesser sitcoms often fail at).

The episode doesn't have much new to say, but Grammer says it well anyhow.
