A let down , Jul 04, 2012

Reviewer: Tid from SW England

Coming after three of the funniest episodes, this was a real let down.
I've never much liked the SeaBea episodes anyway, and this first of
them showed up how contrived they were as a theme. The whole
notion of annual radio awards should be ripe for comedy, so where is
it? Sadly lacking, I'm afraid.

Perhaps it's because all the cast are out of their regular space, or
perhaps it's just something that the writers weren't comfortable with..
I don't know. I just thought it didn't work.

Very funny, Jul 09, 2009

Reviewer: Sammy J from Canberra, Australia

Frasier, Roz, Bebe and the KACL gang prepare for the annual
SeeBee broadcasting awards, leading to some great use of the
supporting characters and some good workouts for Frasier's
arrogance. There's not much more to say on this: all the characters
are well used, and it's good to see Bebe back again. Not a classic,
but a memorable moment.

The First SeaBeas , May 02, 2009

Reviewer: Warren Lancaster from Toronto, ONT CAN

While I don't really think this episode has 'classic' potential, I do think it was a great one. In the first SeaBea show of the series, Frasier is determined to win. I love all of the plans he comes up with on how to bribe the judge, and Kelsey Grammer gives a top drawer performance when Frasier learns that Fletcher Gray is retiring.

'And The Whimper Is ...' review, May 20, 2005

Reviewer: Jocelyn from London, UK

The annual SeaBea awards ceremony rears it's head for the first time here as Frasier is persuaded by Bebe to bribe his way to winning the top prize. I love the way Frasier is made to feel increasingly guilty about his hopes of winning by the plight of retiring broadcaster Fletcher Grey, who has been nominated 11 times but never won while further laughs are derived from Roz's unfortunate date with Noel. All this and the scene where Eddie licks up the spilt champagne plus the very funny running joke of Niles getting mistaken for a waiter keep this episode highly amusing throughout.
