Frasiers Appartment

Postby versace_256 » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:31 pm

Hi guys,

For sometime now I have wanted to find an acurate or fairly acurate plan of Frasiers appartment layout and I couldnt find one anywhere, so I decided to make one myself:

Image

I took my inspiration from a series of episodes, such as Frasier Cranes Day off for Frasiers Bedroom, Chess Pains was the only one I can think of for Martins Room, Daphnes Room for Daphnes Room, and Seat of Power For Frasiers Bathroom. There seems to be a continuity issue with much of the appartment though, for example in Daphne Hates Sherry Frasiers Bathroom looks different.

Any thoughts guys?!

Also sorry the image is a bit large!!

Very nice. I think though that there is another bathroom in the bedroom hallway. There is at least one time when Daphne says she'll use the bathroom down the hall (in Goodnight, Seattle when she comes in to use the bathroom and Kenny is in there) and also, there isn't a shower or a tub in the powder room and I don't think Martin is using Frasier or Daphne's bathroom, there has to be another bathroom there! (unless Martin has a bathroom in his bedroom but that seems unlikely)

Thanks Rudy,

I thought there must be another bathroom somewhere, I wasnt sure if it was where I marked the 'STORE' or not? I also wasnt sure if there was a bath or shower in the powder room, but then I thought surely there would not be 2 separate bathrooms with showers or baths in them? I thought one just must be a W.C and sink? :?

Versace 256, thanks, that's very impressive!

I agree with CatNamedRudy, I wonder if Martin would also have a bathroom as I've heard Daphne say before that she's run both their baths, so I assume there must be two bathrooms round their 'wing'.

I love it! One minor comment...you've left off the desk by the kitchen door, to the right of the dining table.

Surprised you couldn't find this one, as it's been around for a while:

Personally, I find the position of Daphne's bathroom architecturally unsound. Other than that, both blueprints are cool.

I agree - both Daphne's and Frasier's en-suite bathrooms probably wouldn't exist in a real appartment building - not in that form anyway. Of course you're allowed some artistic licence in TV land.

Very nice plan though versace_256, thanks for taking the trouble to post it here. :)

Frasier's very possibly could in an upper class condo building. I've been in some pretty stunning places with master bath's similar to Frasier's.

I just meant (as I'm sure Strat did) that the layout of Daphne's bathroom in particular seems a waste of good, usable space so you probably wouldn't find one like that in RL.

I can quite believe there are many 3 bedroomed apartments out there with en suite facilities for each bedroom! Is the bathroom from Daphne Hates Sherry definitely Frasier's own en suite one, or is it the so-called 'master bathroom', do you think?

That's Frasier's bathroom.

I've actually never even heard the term "en suite" until I started posting here. For me, the "Master Bath" is the bathroom that is part of the master bedroom. (and obviously, Frasier has the master bedroom in his condo).

Also, I think the layout of Daphne's bathroom is wrong. I don't think it would be on an angle like that. I'm not quite sure if that room would actually have a full bathroom in it though. I would think more along the lines of a half bath (toilet and sink only).

I'm still confident though that there is another full bathroom in that place. In the hallway across from Martin's room perhaps.

In a "real" condo, I don't think the powder room would be where it is. That would more likely be a closet. Quite unusual that there isn't a closet right inside the front door!

But we know from Daphne's Room that it definitely has a shower -
Frasier saw Daphne naked in it! The layout of the bathroom looks ok on the plan just maybe the angle it's at and the fact that if it were a real condo it probably would have to be a 'half bath' as you say.

I don't think there's a seperate bathroom in the hall. I imagine each room has it's own en-suite for bath/showering and there's the 'powder room', in the living room area, for visitors.

Definitely. I wasn't debating that fact. I was just debating the angle in the drawings. I think the bathroom is set straight.

So guys,

when I do a revision of the first plan, should I give Martin and ensuite bathroom?!

And does anyone know what that space actually is behind the fire place?

I thought maybe that was a bathroom that Martin uses, but then I didnt know if he would have an en suite or not?!

What do you guys think?! :?

I'd say Martin would have his own en-suite. When the penthouse was built, why would only 2 bedrooms be given en-suite? Rather unusual.

And why would Fraser choose the only other room with en-suite as his study. surely, if Martin's room has no en-suite, Frasier would have used the room next to his as his study, with Daphnes room / en-suite being available for guests?

Also agree there is a main bathroom in the area marked "study", and I would have thought that Daphnes room was a little further along the corridor, brining it in line with the end of the kitchen? From an architectural POV, the perimeter of the Plan would have to be somewhat symmetrical, so that the other penthouses on the 19th floor would interconnect.

Most condos do not have a full bathroom in every bedroom. Frasier's apartment in NOT the penthouse! Remember, Mr. Freddy Chainsaw? He occupies the penthouse. Also, Cam Winston lives ABOVE Frasier. Again, meaning there's no way Frasier lives in the penthouse!

Frasier wasn't planning on having his father move in with him when he bought the place and I'm sure having a bathroom IN his study would be an asset. I would have set the place up just the same. My study on the other side of the apartment. Plus, I think Daphne's room may have had a better view than Martin's which would also make it a better study than the room Martin was in eventually.

I dont know that much about apartment blocks in America, but I would guess you are right Rudy.

Do guys think that the powder room would just have a WC and sink? And then the place where I marked store would be a full bathroom for Martin to use?

In terms of plumbing, I guess that would make sense to me...!

I seem to be alone in my thought that there isn't a full bath in Martin's room. But I would most certainly say that the "Powder Room" is just that. It is not a full bath. A toilet and a sink only.

I'm still not giving up on the idea that there is a bathroom in that bedroom hallway! There has to be! Daphne mentions it! "I'll use the one down the hall!"

I came upon another interesting line the other day though while watching Three Dates and A Breakup.

When Martin and Sherry come in while Frasier is on his date with Kimberly, Martin hears Eddie barking and he says to Frasier "You locked him in the back room again didn't you?" Why would he not say "You locked him in my room" instead of in the "back" room? That strikes me as odd.
