Trivia/Game board?

Postby Corevelay » Tue Aug 08, 2006 5:26 pm

As we all know many good forum games have been created on the off-topic board (sitcom vs sitcom etc.) I was wondering wouldn't it be a good idea if a seperate board was created for that? It will allow many more games to be created since people won't be worried about it filling up the off-topic board, and it keeps the off-topic board to discussion about topics instead of trivia/games.

Opinions?

I think that's a good idea; I can think of lots of games that would be fun to make if I didn't care about clogging up the off topic forum!

I rather like that idea - I've been toying with whether to bring in another forum.

I was thinking a Polls, Quizzes and Games forum might be more encompassing, and since we are now all registered members, I thought that I would allow everyone to be able to create their own polls etc too.

Would it be a good idea to not make this just an off-topic polls and quizzes etc, and include all the Frasier related ones in here as well?

A new forum for polls, quizzes and games sounds like a great idea Stuart, and it would be especially nice to be able to create our own polls. If I could transform my current 'Forum Awards' threads into polls that people could vote on, it would probably be much simpler, easier and more professional. I'm all for it.

I think it's a good idea as well, Stu. :)

Great idea! :) I'd love to start off my own and contribute to polls, on and off topic.

Having given this topic a bit more thought, I thought I'd outline what the new proposed structure of the forums might look like.

I decided, in the end, against having just one Games/Polls/Quizzes forum, and instead break up the forums a bit and create new categories instead - one for Frasier forums, one for Off Topic forums.

To give you an idea of what I mean, here's my proposed structure:

Site Info and Support forums
- Frasier Online Info and Support

Frasier forums
- Frasier Discussion forum
- Frasier Games / Polls / Quizzes forum

Off Topic forums
- Off Topic Dicussion forum
- Off Topic Games / Polls / Quizzes forum

The reason why I felt it was necessary to effectively spilt the forums was that if we have separate discussion forums, it made sense to have poll forums along similar lines. The only thing I was wary of was over spilitting the forums and ending up with under populated forums, but I hope the ability for everyone to create their own polls etc will help to ease my concerns.

I'm hoping, if people agree that the structure seems OK, to make the changes this coming weekend, 2/3rd September, but as ever I am open to any suggestions / comments about it before then.

Thanks :) It was pretty tough finding an interesting cast photo, to be honest.

Oh, and thanks everyone else for their comments so far, looks like this weekend is still on track at the moment

Just a quick reminder that the addition of the Games / Polls / Quizzes forums will be added later today or sometime tomorrow.

I'll be moving some of the exisiting threads into these forums once they're created, just in case you might wonder where a particular thread has gone.

Ok, the two new forums have been created and I've moved some threads into them, with more to follow.

All registered forum members can now create a poll in these two forums, and I've created a sticky in this Info and Support forum for how to create a poll. It's not very hard, and you can always edit / delete the topic and start again if it's not quite right.

Any problems etc, please let me know.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone :)

Only problem I've got is deciding which existing threads belong in the new forums - should every "Favourite ...." thread be moved there, for example.

Tough call, perhaps, but if the thread is not aimed at provoking discussion primarily, then they should be moved.
