I've got to disagree about Sherry. She fits the part perfectly as far as i'm concerned. Episodes featuring her, such as Dad Loves Sherry... and Three Dates And A Break-Up, are absolute stone-cold classics.

I adore Sherry.. she is hilarious! She fit in fantastically with Martin, and was so delightfully irritating to the boys. Loved her.
I might venture a theory at which you are sure to hoot.

Jane Leeves is shockingly bad - so staid and unconvincing and amateur. I preferred her kooky routine to Niles' wife - zilch chemistry, she acts like she can barely stand to be around him and then smashing the vending machine. God, that vending machine. And that ACCENT! "A haff hour" - yer wot?

i agree with all the posts here on sme awful acting, but the award for the worst actor to ever appear on Frasier has to go to "Gertrude Moon",

Peri Gilpin has had some serious shaky moments though.

The BEST ACTOR, by far, has to be David Hyde Pierce, by a long long way, his timing, his physical comedy, top class.

I have to cry foul there. I'm not the biggest fan of the character - but Millicent Martin's just not the worst actor to have appeared by a long shot.

I agree with MC. Her character was annoying as hell but she most certainly wasn't a bad actor. There have been FAR, FAR, FAR worse actors to appear on the show.

I also take issue with David being the best actor by "a long, long way." David is a fantastic actor. That is a given but so is Kelsey. The two of them are IMHO heads above the other three but I wouldn't put David miles above Kelsey in any contest.

I agree, that honour goes to Bill Gates. I don't think DHP is the better actor by a long way, yes, his physical comedy is fantastic but so are KG's mannerisms and reactions to things. The way he replies to certain lines cracks me up.

Hehe Bill certainly sucked. As Cat mentioned earlier in the thread, 'celebrity' guest spots like John Glenn and Camille (maybe most of all), were pretty cringeworthy.

I would put Camille at the top of the list. Followed by Dr. Phil and then Bill Gates. Then probably John Glenn. (though his UFO speech is pretty funny)

Honorable mention, to me, has to go to Jean Smart who played Lorna / Lana. She is a fine actress, but when her character is required to be a bitch, she's just too unconvincingly over-thr-top for my tastes. Examples include, "You know a spoon would be nice!!!" and any of her multiple readings of "Put your brother on. Put your brother on. PUT YOUR BROTHER ON!!!" Another example is "Oh, crap! I'm late!" When I'm making a run through the show, I just don't look forward to the Lorna episode of Season 7 or the Lana episodes of Season 9.

Wow. Again, this shows just how different our views can be on certain episodes and scenes. I LOVE that whole "Put your brother on" scene. Jean Smart cracks me up and I would never put any of her scenes anywhere near the "bad acting" arena.

All of the core cast are excellent (although Jane Leeves isn't as good at the end, but I think that is down to the writing), as well as the likes of Gil, Bulldog and Bebe. I think that the character of Gertrude Moon is terrible but the actress who plays her is quite good. To be honest, Lana is a terrible actress who never should have appeared in the show.

Her episodes that she appeared in were (All ratings featured on the Episode Guide):

Big Crane on Campus - 67.0%
Semi-Decent Proposal/A Passing Fancy - 73.0%
A Day in May - 62.9%
Cranes Go Caribbean - 69.0%
Don Juan in Hell - 70.5%

Now, I know this has a lot to do with the pathetic writing that occurred in most of these episodes but there is a link. In my mind, we saw Lana five times too many.

I strongly disagree with that! Jean Smart is a great actress who was fantastic as the Wife of President Logan in 24.

Oh, no doubt she has done some great work. I was very impressed by her performance as the First Lady (wife of the U.S. President) on 24 a few years ago. I just can't stand her character on Frasier. Maybe it's not so much that I find her acting to be bad, but it just seems too over-the-top, and not in a good way (unlike when Kelsey is over-the-top, but in a good way).

Since someone mentioned Halloween, I'd like to mention Mark Monuz, who plays the diminutive Dr. Krovitz (short guy in the Frankenstein's Monster costume). He only has two lines, but his delivery of both is toe-curlingly awful. It's as if the casting director were told, "Just find the shortest man you can find who's taller than Verne Troyer. Acting experience is not necessary."

I agree with the OP, the Orderly at the hospital in “Rooms with a View” was TERRIBLE. He makes me cringe so much so that I have to fast forward through that part when that episode is on!

Even considering he's among my favorite actors but Michael Keaton in "Wheels of Fortune" strikes me as off putting to say the least.

He was awfully miscast in a terrible episode that should never have been produced...
