The TV Thread - "No posts exist for this topic"

Postby Wezzo » Wed Mar 05, 2008 9:40 pm

Not sure why I'm bringing this up now as it's been like it for what, a year or more?

But whenever a page is filled in The TV Thread, the next page is apparently created - it's linked to from the main forums view - but when you click on it you get the error mesage "No posts exist for this topic", and the last post to the thread is actually the last post on the previous page.

I'm guessing this happened due to a post being deleted at some point..? It's a bit weird though. Anything you could do about it Stu?

(if I'm the only one having this problem I apologise profusely for sounding like an idiot..)

You know it took me about 6 months of posting here before I figured that out!

I just remedy the problem by hitting the page back key and then clicking on the second to last page instead of the last page!
This is the STUPIDEST day I've ever had!

No, you're not the only one, Wes. The glitch has been happening for quite a while. I just do the same as Cat.

It can't be down to a deleted post or other threads would be doing the same thing. Even if a user was deleted the post would still show as 'anonymous' so that can't be it either. It's just a weird glitch I doubt Stu can do much about.

I could offer to delete the thread and start a new one but I don't think Paul B would be too happy with that solution...

Well sort of, I did do a bit of digging when I started seeing it, and I think there is something I can do about it.

From what I remember, it's to do with deleted posts and how the the number of pages quantity is worked out. I did find quite a few other people suffereing the same issue, and it requires a bit of behind-the-scenes resyncing but nothing too taxing

Hopefully, I should be able to get to it in the not-too-distant future though

Hmm, interesting. There haven't been that many posts deleted on this forum I wouldn't have thought, but I wonder why we don't get the same issues with other threads? :?

I wasn't sure why either, tbh, but from what I read, long threads suffer the most.

Anyway, I've run the re-syncing on the db which did find and fix some post counts and other things that were out of sync, so if it still occurs can you let me know, and I'll look into it some more.
