See, I don't think Frasier ever even came close to jumping the shark. The quality went down for 3 seasons but it didn't become unwatchable in any sense of the word. (a few episodes are unwatchable but there were a few of those in the early seaons too.)
In order for a show to "jump the shark" it has to just become horrible and so insanely ridiculous that you just can't stand it anymore. ie: Fonzie jumps the shark and all of Happy Days turns into a giant pile of crap.
Taliesin wrote:Understand, if I'm watching Frasier..I tend towards the later seasons. It's like I prefer the later years of Cheers, and most would say the best ones were the earlier episodes. I'm sorry, but I think Kirstie Alley was way more funny than Diane. And, the show became more absurd and humorous. Like with Seinfield. they didn't have to worry anymore about ratings..so they just went with it. I don't like the earlier seasons of Frasier. It seems forced. Like they were trying to be something..an ensemble. The writers to their credit..finally recognized the humor was in the house. I'm also happy (not to bum anyone out, but I have Stage 4 cancer) and to argue the relative merits of comedy shows makes me laugh and I love a good critical argument. And, yeah..Happy Days went way downhill after Ron Howard left. Don't even get me started when they killed Edith in All in The Family.

Best Line Ever!!!
