Episode Synopsis
Bulldog inadvertently becomes a hero when he saves the day by spilling
coffee on a gunman holding up the Caf, whereas in fact, he was trying
to pull Roz between himself and the gun. Frasier saw things exactly how
they were, which no-one else seems to have, and is thus infuriated when
Bulldog becomes the toast of the town, and won't admit to the truth. So
while Frasier schemes ways to make Bulldog feel guilty, Bulldog takes
full advantage of his new macho status with women. At the annual SeaBea
Awards, a black-tie event that Frasier is hosting, Bulldog is to receive
the highest honour for bringing honour to the radio medium. However, Frasier
has a few people from Buldog's past, including a priest and his mother,
that Frasier wants Bulldog to confront. Things don't go as planned....Niles
has also been nominated for a SeaBea in the Technical Awards, but no-one
except him is wearing a tux and everyone treats him like a waiter.

Episode Highlights
- Niles arrives at Frasier's wearing his newest purchase, a hat,
which Frasier is less than keen on:
Frasier: Niles, what have we determined about your success with
impulse purchases?
Niles: Really, the sales person thought I could pull it off.
Frasier: My suggestion exactly (!)
- Frasier is dismissive of Niles' guest spot that got him nominated
in the SeaBea awards:
Frasier: 30 minutes of psychobabble which could be reduced to
one phrase - rain, rain, go away!
- Daphne wonders what would happen if she was offered a lifetime
supply of muffins, like Bulldog was:
Daphne: I could eat a muffin a day, even two knowing they were
free. That's maybe 10 a week, 52 weeks a year for at least another 40
years which works out to...... 20,000 muffins! My life seems quite long
measured in muffins!
- Women have been throwing themselves at Bulldog after he was
proclaimed a hero:
Bulldog: At one point I was a hero sandwich!
- Niles gets Daphne to prcatice him winning his SeaBea, which
involves Daphne hugging him, when Frasier walks in:
Daphne: Hello Dr Crane. We're just practicing for Saturday night
- best case scenario
Frasier: Obviously (!!)
- Roz arrives in her spangly silver outfit:
Frasier: You look divine.
Roz: No, I look LIKE Divine!
- Being the one one at the Technical Awards wearing a tux caused
Niles some problems:
Niles: They didn't serve alcohol at the Technical Awards - as
I informed so many of the guests who mistook me for their waiter!
Frasier Online Episode Review
A notch down from some of the classic episodes that preceed it, this is still an entertaining episode in it's own right - it's main problem is that the main plot feels a bit stretched at times, and doesn't quite sustain the length of the episode. Still, it was good to see Dan Butler in an increasingly rare Bulldog-centric episode, and there were thankfully other very funny moments elsewhere in the episode - I loved Daphne's little speech about muffin's, Roz's spangly silver dress was a sight to behold and there were some brilliant jokes at Niles' expense as everyone kept thinking he was a waiter at the SeaBea's. The episode ends on an amusing, if rather abrupt note, as Martin makes everyone see Bulldog for the fraud he is, which includes the very funny sight of Bulldog's mum hitting her son with her handbag - great fun!
