| Episode Synopsis |
Nikos, Frasier's Greek cousin, comes to the station to invite the Cranes to his wedding. This is the first that Frasier is hearing of his young cousin's wedding leading Frasier to believe thaat Nikos' mother, Zora, still hates him for years ago talking Nikos out of Medical School and pursuing his passion for street juggling. Despite both Martin and Niles thinking it's a bad idea, Frasier goes down to Zora's Greek restaurant and persuades the angry, tough-talking Zora into a reconcilliation with the condition that Frasier never again gives Nikos advice. Zora especially wants Nikos to marry his bride, Mary Ann, since she is from an extremely affluent family.
At the wedding, Niles tries to escape the libidinous Yvonne while Martin
tries to connect with his brother Ed. When Frasier finds out that Nikos
doesn't truly love Mary Ann, he can't help but give more words of advice.
Then Frasier arranges for the sudden arrival of Nikos' true love, Crystal
the juggler, and Zora goes apoplectic.......

Niles: A slight crush? There are cannibals who are less man hungry!!
- Martin is still angry about the fact hat he hasn't

Martin: Can you imagine what it's like to live in the same city
as your brother and not see him for 5 years?
Frasier: No, but I'd like to give it a try (!)

and thank Frasier for getting them back together:
Crystal: We owe our happinesss to him.

Despite the fact that in Episode 1.22 - Author, Author, Martin states that he never had a brother, in this episode we see not only Martin's brother but also a side of the Crane family that has never been mentioned before and isn't mentioned after either. If you can get past the fact that this is therefore a rather contrived episode, it is rather an entertaining one that features a great over-the-top (and Emmy nominated) perfomance from Patti LuPone as Aunt Zora. It's also fun to see Martin and Walt meet up again after years apart - and have almost nothing to say to each other, but perhaps best of all was Niles who spends all of his time trying to escape the clutches of "Yvonne The Terrible". I loved the final scene too where Crystal and Nikos get back together and Frasier has to endure the wrath of Aunt Zora, making this a highly amusing episode.

My only wish is that Aunt Zora was not a reoccuring role....she was freaking hilarious. I read a review talking about how Martin's brother was never mentioned prior and how Nykos would have certainly kept in touch with Frazier given their closeness...blah, blah, blah! It's a sitcom, lighten up. Gee whiz, surprized they like sit coms at all.....it was classicly funny. LOVED IT! |
