| Episode Synopsis |
Frasier can't stop thinking about the time he and Kate were together - in fact he has been having fantasies about her, and wonders whether he has real feelings for her, despite the fact she has given her no real indication she feels the same. He resolves to tell her how he feels, but just as he is about to, Kate informs him that she is leaving KACL and is leaving that night to manage another station. Frasier has a date that night, but leaves her with Martin, Niles and Daphne so he can tell Kate how he really feels. He visits her apartment, tells her his feelings - and then sees a man come out from her bedroom, causing Frasier to leave rather abruptly.
He arrives back at home, but Kate has rushed to follow him and tells
her that she does feel the same as he does, but when she meets Frasier's
date for that night, she accuses him of being insincere and rushes off
to the airport. Frasier decides to follow her and meets her just as she
is about to board the plane, but her flight is then delayed giving Kate
and Frasier ample opportunity to explore their relationship beyond the
physical to see if it really would work, and come to the conclusion that
perhaps it won't......

| Frasier Online Episode Review |
This episode sees the departure of Kate Costas after just 10 episodes, and deals with Kate and Frasier attempting to resolve their feelings for each other in the face of Kate leaving for another city. The scene in the airport is great as they realise they don't have as much in common as they thought, and the final parting line is quite touching. Elsewhere in the episode, there are some great Niles moments as he attempts to help Daphne in the kitchen and then has his enjoyment of 'Casablanca' and 'The Way We Were' ruined by Daphne telling him the plot before he's seen it.Overall, I found this to be a well-judged and amusing episode if oddly low-key for the departure of a pretty major character.

This episode sees the end of Frasier and Kate's relationship and it's probably a good thing too as I feel this storyline has begun to outstay it's welcome. Still, the episode is as well written as ever and there are some very funny moments such as Niles 'grating' on Daphne in the kitchen as well as the great scene where Daphne keeps giving away the endings of films which Niles is planning to watch on video for the first time. The lengthy final sequence at the airport is nicely handled if lacking in big laughs as Frasier and Kate realise that, despite their best efforts to prove otherwise, they have absolutely nothing in common. |
