And The Whimper Is...

After being nominated for a Seabea, an award given at the annual Seattle radio awards, Roz, who has been waiting a decade for a nomination, and Frasier decide that to boost their chances they should send the members of the jury gifts from the Tiffany catalogue. This horrifies Martin, but they are adamant. The night dawns and they discover that Fletcher Grey, also nominated, has been nominated for the 11th time and never won. This starts to send Frasier on a guilt trip as the advance word is that he and Roz have the award in the bag. The ceremony begins with the announcement that Fletcher Grey is retiring, making Frasier even more guilty. Finally then, the announcement of the winner is made.....

Bebe: You must be very proud of your brother.
Niles: Well actually...no.

Niles: Well I must go. I'm due at my sexual addiction group and I don't like to leave them alone for too long.

- Eddie licking up the $200 a bottle champagne.

Roz: Please don't make fun of who I brought.
Frasier: I thought you were bringing Brad McNamara.
Roz: I was, but he got called away on a story. Some hospital went up in flames. Do you know anyone who has worse luck than I do.
- Noel Shempsky then appears as Roz's date.

Noel: Here's the keys so you can drive us home - I have night blindness.
Roz: I wish I did(!).

Roz: I've waited 10 years for this award and if I have to crawl over Fletcher Grey's mother to get it, I'll do it.
Frasier: Roz, I haven't seen you like this before.
Roz: It isn't pretty is it.

An episode that brings us the first mention of the SeaBea awards, and a great fun one it is too. I loved the running joke of everyone treating Niles as a waiter at the awards, while the writing is definitely above average, and it was great to see Harriet Sansom Harris as Bebe Glazer again. In short, a rather good episode.
